Operation Grapple came back strong with an actioned packed No-Gi tournament held at Rock Fitness on February 23rd. Teams from all over SoCal were represented and all of the athletes gave their all on the mats.
Congratulations to team Carlson Gracie Murrieta for taking home the first place team award with CMS picking up second and Rounders MMA placing a respectable third.

With our dedication to continuous improvement Grappling-X will be recognizing key team members who have gone above and beyond their typical duties to provide our competitors and fans the best experience possible following every event.
The most common criticisms at any sporting event usually involve the referees. Grappling events are no different and competitors and coaches have even been thrown out of venues due to the volatile relationship referees often have with the public. On February 1st we are pleased that our officials and the head referee, Jonathan Romero, received praise by some of the harshest critics in the game. Romero was fair and helped keep the event running smooth despite many challenges.
Also we would like to recognize our head videographer, Dave Henneman. Dave not only trained and supervised all camera personnel at the event, he even stepped up to help table workers and other staff when he saw that assistance was required. Jonathan Romero and Dave Henneman are Grappling-X all-stars!
On Saturday February 1st Grappling-X kicked off the New Year with its first San Diego tournament. The huge turnout was only exceeded by the sheer amount of talent shown on the mats. Both the children and adult divisions had world class competitors putting it on the line.
Congratulations to Alliance MMA for taking the Grand Championship prize! Stronghold took first place in the kids and teens team divisions with Alliance MMA and Ramona BJJ taking second and third respectively. In the adult divisions it was Atos Jiu-jitsu taking the top team award with Alliance MMA taking second and Ramona BJJ again representing well with third place.
Everyone here at Grappling-X would like to thank all of the competitors and spectators for their feedback and patience as we implement tournament improvements throughout this year. GX plans on making our events more pleasurable and entertaining for everyone involved. We want to go beyond what grappling competitions should be and showcase what is truly possible with a dedicated team! Don’t forget that all matches will be uploaded to the GrapplingXTV channel on YouTube for free viewing!
As a continued effort to improve Grappling X events, beginning January 1, 2014 ALL coaches and referees will be required to complete a Certification class in order to receive credentials to coach or ref at all Grappling-X events. These certifications are FREE and we will list the dates, times and locations for when the certification meetings will be offered. All coaches will be credentialed for two years, making checking into events and the process of getting to and coaching your students much easier....
